Description
In this isolated mountain region lies a community ofΒ people living by ancient tribal traditions in preserved medieval villages.
Svaneti in the Caucasus mountain region of Georgia is home to the Svan people.
They are an indigenous group living in the remote northwest of the country. They have created their own unwritten language and managed to preserve their unique cultures and traditions thanks to their geographical isolation.
I travelled there in July 2019 for a hiking trip and enjoyed the warm welcome of the homestay along the way.
