Nicknamed “port of Timbuktu”, the port of Essaouira was then a strategic point for international trade, where they traded gold, spices, wool, oil, ivory and slaves until the mid-nineteenth century.

Today they trade only fish, you can also enjoy some restaurants from local cooperatives.
